Grid Computing tackles projects that benefit humanity including Human Proteome Folding and Help Conquer Cancer

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

I want to encourage the web development and social media community, especially in Houston, to put their computers to work and setup the world community grid on their computers. The application runs in the background of your computer and analyzes data packets that will eventually help to benefit humanity. When you need your computer’s full power, the application automatically stops using your processing power so that you do not sacrifice your work quality.

Please join the Houston Social Media and Web Dev Community once you setup your account and let’s show the world how much we care.

RubberDuck Software’s PromoteIt ripped off SimpleBits Website Design

Thursday, December 13th, 2007

promoteit.gifJake Marsh ripped off the design of Dan Cederholm’s Simplebits.com for his RubberDuck Software website. How can someone feel good about themselves when they do something like this?

Something similar happened in March of this past year when LogoMaid ripped off a version of the Simplebits logo.

When linking to a ripped off site, put rel=”nofollow” in the “a” tag to keep their pagerank from growing.

After about 10 minutes of this post being up, the RubberDuck Software site went offline. Hmmm…is that coincidence? Someone must be in communication with DreamHost to take it offline.

The Beer Can House website officially launches

Friday, December 7th, 2007

Darren, Angelo and I officially launched the Beer Can House website this past Tuesday. It has been a great experience working with Julie and Stephen from the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art.

I highly recommend visiting the newly renovated house when it reopens this spring.
